Commissioning a portrait is a significant undertaking. A portrait will last for generations, years after the family photos have long since faded. Regardless of the complexity of the piece you commission, Timothy Byrne always strives to create an heirloom quality portrait masterpiece of the highest standards.
Since a portrait is a collaboration between patron and artist, the first step is to establish a dialogue and determine the scope of the painting you desire. Tim will do his very best to accommodate both your vision and your budget. When you commission Tim to paint or draw your portrait you are dealing directly with the artist. There are no intermediaries and this ensures your communication is direct and there will be no misinterpretation or misrepresentation. If anything, your expectations will be exceeded. Please contact Timothy directly to discuss the portrait you envision.
Portrait fees start at $500.00. The price is based on the following criteria: the medium; the number of people or pets in the piece; how much of each subject is to be depicted; the size of the actual piece itself; the intricacy of clothing, jewelry and props; and the complexity of the background setting.
Framing costs, shipping fees and unusual travel expenses are additional. A down payment of half the total cost is required when you sign the contract. The remainder is to be given in exchange for the final piece.
The above cost estimates are based on approximately life sized, single figure, oil portraits, painted against simple tonal backgrounds. Thank you
